126% – we dedicate this milestone to our heroes!

You did it! Thanks to a fantastic support frenzy from over 400 backers during the last days, Eyes as Big as Plates is now 125 % funded! There will be books in the mail, prints in the post and much warmth for everyone who has supported us. The book will now become a reality and we are looking forward to keeping you posted on the progress!

Our French friends, Marie-Ange and Phetsavat, are here to give you another little snippet from the upcoming book – keep it coming you beautiful people, every penny will go towards an exquisitely produced book! Who knows, maybe our senior party will be an international hit phenomenon in 14 days?

Thank you! Much excitement and love, Riitta and Karoline

We came to Paris and found the city singing and dancing. Marie- Ange, a formidable troubadour from Ocitanie was cast from a late night opera soirée at 2am. Riitta was floored in awe and asked immediately if she had any free time the next day to join a shoot. Karoline arrived straight from Chrarles the Gaulle and hours later Marie-Ange was performing acrobatics by Lac Daumesnil. © Karoline Hjorth & Riitta Ikonen

We left Paris to continue our French chapter of Eyes as Big as Plates in Dijon. An evening of exquisite homemade Southeast Asian food in the family shop of Anemone, Bea and Phetsavath prepared us for a trek up the majestic Combe Lavaux Réserve Naturelle the next morning (and put Riitta straight into production mode. An umbrella is never just an umbrella…) © Karoline Hjorth & Riitta Ikonen

This was the first visit to the nature reserve in Bourgogne for all of us. We used all the French we’ve ever learned, the key sentence being ‘attandez s’il vous plaît pour les nuages’, as we spent the better part of the tour waiting for clouds to arrive. © Karoline Hjorth & Riitta Ikonen

The sun was in a ruthless mood this September afternoon, and in the end we descended back to the shadows of the forest where we finally found our chief. Eyes as Big as Plates # Phetsavath © Karoline Hjorth & Riitta Ikonen

  1. I just discovered your work “Eyes as Big as Plates” earlier this week and I am completely obsessed with it! What a wonderful theme to focus on. Your photos are beautiful, emotional, magical, spiritual and other-worldly.
I’ve searched the internet to find your book. Please tell me there a place where I can purchase it.

    Sincerely,
    One of your newest fans!

    1. Dear Marcel,

Thank you for your wonderful email! How lovely hear you have found our work and enjoy it so much and we very much appreciate your new obsession!
We are excited to tell you the book is on its way, although it is still a little while before we can announce the launch date. We are preparing to go to print this autumn and are hoping to launch the book at the end of the year (or early next year, depending a little on our publisher). We would be very happy to keep you updated as we get closer to the book launch and you are very welcome to follow our blog for our news on the progress.

Thank you again for your warm feedback and we wish you a lovely summer!

      Very best wishes,
      Karoline and Riitta.
