Bornholm doubles

More Danish delights this week under the notoriously blue skies as we ziggzagged the crag valleys on the Island of Bornholm with Jens and Camilla.

With grace that only a trained forest bathing guide could have, Camilla snuggled waist deep into a bog followed by the tripod and Karoline. As a new twist of Eyes as Big as Plates methodology, we continued with a second shoot, where Camilla wedged herself into the portal connection between a rock and an oak, accompanied by some dryad’s saddle mushrooms.

Jens is well known across Denmark for his companionship with the 38 -year old seagull Mogens and we were lucky to catch a glimpse of his two new fledglings!

Jens is a Biologist, biomedical laboratory scientist, nature guide, previous vice chief nature guide at NaturBornholm and chairman at Danish Outdoor Council, bird enthusiast, you name it.

We expect some long and deep green hours in post production with Jens and the Japanese butterbur from our first shoot. The speckled light on the forest floor in the crag left us yearning for more, so Jens too braved another shoot with a fancy do of wild garlic (allium ursinum).

Stay tuned for the exhibition opening at the Bornholm Center for Arts and Crafts on July 4th. The event programme is titled Krydsbestøv – Mærk skoven! The three exhibition venues on Bornholm are open for visitors until October 18, 2026.

Thank you Dorthea, Bettina, Lene and Mogens & Missus for the encounters and for Johnny for being a beautifully discreet shadow at the shoots with your recording gear.

Last and most loved, thank you to Riitta’s mum and dad for being the vital core team of support operations behind the scenes!
