Qujanaq Kalaallit Nunaat

A four-hour boat trip in the Nuuk Fjord in the company of whales, seals, icebergs and fellow festival sailors concluded our Greenland adventure – and made it even more clear we are definitely coming back. Qujanaq Kalaallit Nunaat

Ice as big as plates

Apologies for this rather late post. We’ve been busy crying. Crying that we’ll soon be leaving Kalaallit Nunaat and for having met yet another mountain of a person. Jakob Sørensen rocked our lives in Greenlandic as he said ‘yes’ at Nuukullak ‘entrepeneur valley’ (once again a top-tip from our guide Najâraq). Ice as big as plates

Tove’s qeqqussat

Tove moved to Greenland on the 27th of October 1959. She recalls the first week being tough, but it has been great ever since. Every now and then she thinks it might be nice to have apple cake with her mother in Denmark, but feelings of home sickness don’t bother her too much. We wouldn’t feel homesick either if we could hear whales in the bay whilst sitting in our living room. Tove’s qeqqussat

Nuuk torraaaaaak

A 15 minute journey to work took us a little over an hour as we ooooh’d and aaaah’d at the sunrise, ravens, icicles, snow… It has become a habit to go and stand by the water and just stare out at the icebergs flowing by slowly. As our dear friend Lisa would put it ‘there is no time – it’s timeless…’ Nuuk torraaaaaak

Foraging with Amalie

Amalie, our guide Najâraq’s dynamo of a mother, took us out to her favourite place in Nuuk this morning. Amalie’s excursions to this particular spot are frequent; a couple of times a week. Foraging with Amalie
