It’s been nearly two years since the Eyes as Big as Plates duo last saw each other live off screen, and equally long since any new additions to the series. We are therefore beyond pumped and ecstatic for this weekend’s reunion, exhibition opening, artist talk and new shoot! … Reunion, exhibition, artist talk and new shoot – Munich, here we come!
As part of the photography festival Oslo Negativ‘s artist talk series titled “Oslo Negativ Inspirerer”, Karoline will represent the Eyes as Big as Plates duo on stage at 2 pm Norwegian time tomorrow in the beautiful old Deichman library, sharing snippets from the upcoming book! As part of Fotografiets Dag / Photography Day 2021, Eyes as Big as Plates is invited to give an artist talk at Preus Museum in Horten in Norway. The first ever Eyes as Big as Plates portrait was created in May 2011 together with Halvar on the southwest coast of Norway. Ten years and over a hundred portraits later, Galleri Dropsfabrikken in Trondheim is proud to present brand new works alongside Halvar in an exhibition celebrating the first decade of the project!

The Dedee Shattuck Gallery is pleased to reopen with their 2021 inaugural exhibit Eyes as Big as Plates: A Second Look at the Work of Riitta Ikonen & Karoline Hjorth. Visitors to the gallery will recognize these photographs from their 2019 group show, Should We Go Outside? A Nordic Quartet. There will be no formal opening reception for this exhibition, but you are welcome to visit the gallery from tomorrow, 1st of May until 30th of May. Opening hours are Wednesday-Saturday from 10 am – 5 pm and Sundays from 12-5 pm. Welcome!
